About the Presenter:Chris Worel has over 30 years of experience in the financial service industry, the last 20 in C-Suite positions with banks, broker-dealers and fin tech firms.
In his capacity as Region President of First Union in Savannah, GA, he was involved with numerous sell-side transactions to include forest product companies, a steel foundry, a top ten privately owned commercial insurance brokerage, multiple maritime business of various sizes and a large software provider for the telecommunications industry.
After joining National Commerce Financial Corp as President of NBC-Georgia, he led the company’s de novo build-out across the state, was involved in numerous financial acquisitions and partnerships, and had responsibility for the operational consolidation of NCF’s acquisition of Central Carolina Bank.
When NCF sold to SunTrust in 2004, Chris joined investment bankers from DLJ Securities, Trident and Pratt Financial in raising $70 million in private equity to found an Industrial Loan Corp. in Utah. He went on to recruit/open production offices around the country. He was subsequently part of a Charleston group that secured $405 million worth of subscriptions to do a southeastern bank roll up. Chris served as a Managing Director in the founding of ncino software and has conducted merger work for a family office with $1.3 billion in equity.
He has held numerous financial licenses and designations in his career including his Series 7/63, Mortgage Broker License, BS in Management and Finance as well as having attended LSU’s Graduate School of Banking, and Stanford’s Graduate Program for Managing High Growth Companies.
Chris has been a featured speaker at state banking conferences as well as financial software conventions held by industry giants like Jack Henry and Salesforce.
In addition to attending his son’s football games and daughter’s music events, Chris has climbed 13 of the 15 highest US summits and more than two dozen other 14ers. He has run 5 marathons, done two half Ironman, parachuted, learned to bobsled, swam with sharks and taken on numerous other personal challenges.
He is the author of Breaking The Bank: How to Obtain Business Capital and was a columnist for Foundation Focus magazine. Chris splits time between Atlanta, GA and Charleston, SC.
