That’s One Remarkable Team

andy-reidI was talking about the Super Bowl with some co-workers and that got me to thinking about the storylines from the game. The one that jumped out at me is Chiefs’ coach Any Reid. Reid has taken his team to four Super Bowls in his career and three in the last four years, winning two. With the second most post-season victories in history, win or lose last week, he’d already cemented his legacy as a great coach… and a great leader. In fact, we can even call him remarkable.

While we can’t all lead in the spotlight that is the NFL (how cool would that be), as leaders, the spotlight is still on us regardless of whether we lead a division or an entire company. No leader can shine without having a remarkable team propelling him or her forward. That’s why whenever you hear Reid talking, he finds a reason to praise his players. It’s all about the team.

One NFL executive was quoted as saying, “(The Chiefs) have the benefit of knowing if we acquire an offensive player, Andy Reid is going to put him into a position to succeed.” This is why they were able to trade away one of the NFL’s best wide receivers, Tyreek Hill, for draft picks and not miss a beat. Reid is able to collect talent and push the right buttons for each individual to contribute to an exceptional team result.
