Meeting Summary:

Networking with other executives still proves to be the most effective way to jump-start, build and manage your career. Whether currently engaged in a job search or just interested in expanding your business relationships, this is a unique opportunity in a small group setting to interact with other executives to:

  • Earn new networking and job search strategies
  • Expand your professional network
  • Increase your ability to use the Internet effectively in your job search
  • Hear about job leads and what's happening in the marketplace
  • Get feedback and share ideas, resources, and information
Be prepared with a 60-second introduction that will include:
Name, Field of Expertise, Unique Added Value, Career Goal and Target Companies

Recommendation:
Marketing materials (25+ copies of resumes, or page bio, business cards, etc.).

What is the difference between the Open and Structured Networking portions of the meeting?
During "Open" networking you're free to mingle around the room and participate in table discussions.

You can feel free to ask others for specific help, i.e. ideas about what companies to target, contacts within those companies, or assistance with any aspect of your search. Bring plenty of business cards to leave with those you meet. A small card with nothing more than your name and phone number and e-mail address is fine.

During "Structured" networking, you should be prepared with a two-minute presentation that tells the group:
  • who you are, background
  • your area(s) of expertise
  • how you can help the group
  • how the group can help you
  • the kinds of problems you solve
  • what your ideal career/job is

Remember: the quality of your message determines the impact of your networking!
