“A Life-changing Experience”

Have you ever listened to someone and just been amazed? That’s how I feel after I listen to Barb Bruno. I listened to the recording of Barb’s June Master Class for us, and I was struck by the concept of influence. When one has influence, they quite literally have the power to make an impact on people’s thoughts and actions. This power is a soft skill that needs to be developed.

Your influence is felt – or not – in multiple ways. It manifests in ways you might not ever think about, including:

  • Your body language
  • How generous you are with what you know and the value you create
  • The way you story tell your value
  • Your persuasiveness and selling skills
  • Clarity in language and vision
  • Your networking effectiveness

If you’re someone who treats other’s attention with kindness and earns trust every day, then one of the byproducts will be that they’ll want to learn more about you, hear what you have to say next, and yes, bring you into their organization to lead them, where applicable.

No matter if it’s in a job interview, a department meeting, or a Board room, it’s important, no, it’s necessary, to have highly developed skills at influencing people so that things go your way.

Here’s a 2-minute clip from the Master Class that I mentioned in which Barb, a true influencer in the recruiting world who trains recruiters, speaks at a few dozen conferences a year, is an avid networker, and an active member of the ExecuNet community, has something to say that you may have overlooked.

Please have a listen and consider, could you use an influence boost?
