Inhale love, Ehale Gratitude

happy-thanksgiving-3Last week I was asked to oversee the ceremony and marry my nephew to a lovely young woman. Kyle has been like a third son to me. He’s a rare breed. You know, the kind that actually listens when I speak, went home at night, and never asked me for money. I was deeply honored that he and his (now) wife asked me to officiate their ceremony.

As I reflect upon that day and look forward to Thanksgiving, which is only a week away, it’s impossible for me not to feel the love from that day with every breath in I take and a sense of gratitude for that love and the life and family that I have as I exhale. As I reflect on what I’m feeling, it starts with family, of course, and it extends to a career of helping people reach their goals.

There are so many parallels in play for me in my reflections right now. The happiness of a wedding. And what is a wedding but a celebration of love and future possibilities together?

Thanksgiving is all about reflecting on what we have to appreciate, the good in our lives that we may take for granted in the day-to-day. It’s a look back at the possibilities that have been happening.

It was an honor and a privilege to formally join Kyle and Carly together, and upon reflection, I saw there was some irony there, as in my career, at ExecuNet what we do is help people connect with what’s next for them…and there’s no greater Next Great Next than marriage.

I invite you to take a few moments, right now, to take a deep breath in and think of all the loving people and situations in your life. When you’re ready, exhale slowly and allow yourself to feel gratitude for all that you have in your life.
Now go call someone you love and tell them they are special to you.
