3 Qualities a Great Leader Must Show

What are the character attributes that you found over the course of your long career are necessary for a good leader?

That is one of the questions Anthony Vlahos, Host of ExecuNet Master Class, asked of Starbucks Founding President Howard Behar in a special session of ExecuNet Master Class. Howard joined Tony to discuss how he used the power of compassion and trust to shape one of the world’s most successful companies. leadership qualities

Here’s some of what Howard had to say:

Trust is vital. Give trust before you get trust. You have to trust your people, not distrust them. It’s up to the leader to earn his or her people’s trust, not the other way around.

Be caring. People are not assets. They are human beings. Leaders have to understand people are unpredictable and fragile. You have to take the good and the bad and you do it with love in your heart.

Demonstrate vulnerability. You don’t hide. You have fears just like your people have. Allowing yourself to show them makes you relatable and believable.

Listen to this excerpt from the program to hear Howard talk about these concepts in his own words.
