Recruiter Confidence Climbs

www.execunet.com — February 25, 2008 — Confidence among recruiters increased in February as companies continued to recruit top talent despite increasing economic uncertainty, according to ExecuNet's Recruiter Confidence Index (RCI), a leading indicator for the executive employment market.

Introduced in May 2003, the Recruiter Confidence Index is based on a monthly survey of executive recruiters conducted by ExecuNet (www.execunet.com), an exclusive network of global business leaders. Independent analysis of the RCI has confirmed it is a leading indicator for the executive search industry.

According to February's survey of 114 executive recruiters, 51% are confident or very confident the executive employment market will improve during the next six months — up from 47% last month. During this period of time, the executive recruiting industry is expecting a 14% increase in assignments received from corporate clients.

"While economic headwinds continue to dominate the headlines, the first two months of 2008 have been marked by a moderate increase in six-figure job opportunities," says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. "This job growth may not be as pronounced as it was one year ago, however, in light of the current shortage of leadership talent, it presents a challenge to companies focused on reducing turnover."

Recruiters' short-term confidence also improved in February, as 41% were confident or very confident the executive employment market will improve during the next three months — up from 39% in January. During this period of time, 44% of all search firms are planning to hire additional staff.

"Recruiters tell us they are having a hard time finding the talent companies are seeking, as many clients are not able to devote the necessary management time to the process," Anderson noted. "It's now taking more time to fill open positions, which is creating even more strain on the process."

Founded in 1988, the ExecuNet career and business network brings C-level executives together online and in face-to-face meetings to discuss business challenges, solutions and professional opportunities. A recognized authority in executive recruiting and human capital, ExecuNet also provides members access to confidential six-figure job listings, proprietary research, and pragmatic advice.
