Employment Market's Resilience Raises Recruiters' Confidence

www.execunet.com — August 8, 2007 — The Recruiter Confidence Index (RCI) – which edged down slightly in June, rebounded in July, rising two percentage points, as economic growth remained stable despite weakness in the national housing market.

Introduced in May 2003, the Recruiter Confidence Index is based on a monthly survey of thousands of executive recruiters conducted by ExecuNet (www.execunet.com), the executive career and business networking organization. Independent analysis of the RCI confirmed it is a leading indicator for the executive search industry.

According to July's survey of 154 executive recruiters, 69% are confident or very confident the executive employment market will improve during the next six months – up from 67% one month ago.

Confidence In The Executive Employment Market
Next Six Months

"At a time when many are growing increasingly concerned about the implications of a recession in the real estate market, it's encouraging to see strength in the executive employment market," says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. "Given the pace at which companies are aggressively looking to recruit top talent this year, corporations clearly expect earnings to remain strong for an extended period of time."

Recruiters' short-term outlook was also bullish in July, as 74% are confident or very confident the employment market will improve in the next three months – up from 68% in June. During this period of time, the executive recruiting industry is expecting a 22% increase in the number of assignments received from clients.

To help manage this growth, 48% of all search firms are planning to add more professional staff during the next three months – up from 38% in June. In the previous three months, 30% of executive recruiting firms increased their professional staff.
