www.execunet.com — June 22, 2007 — The Recruiter Confidence Index (RCI) – a leading indicator for the executive employment market – edged down five percentage points in June. Despite this modest drop, the executive recruiting industry remains bullish, as two in three search professionals believe the demand for senior talent will continue to increase in the second half of 2007.
Introduced in May 2003, the Recruiter Confidence Index is based on a monthly survey of thousands of executive recruiters conducted by ExecuNet (www.execunet.com), the leading executive career, business and recruiting network. Independent analysis of the RCI has confirmed it is a leading indicator for the executive search industry.
According to June's survey of 116 executive recruiters, 67% are confident or very confident the executive employment market will improve during the next six months – down from 72% one month ago.

"Recruiters see room for more growth in the executive employment market," says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. "However, hiring within the executive search industry is starting to decrease, which is an emerging trend we're monitoring very closely. If this measure continues to drop in the months ahead, it could be a sign that the job growth for executives has reached a plateau."
Recruiters' short-term outlook was also tempered in June, as 68% are confident or very confident the employment market will improve in the next three months – down from 79% in April. During this period of time, the executive recruiting industry is expecting an 18% increase in the number of assignments received from clients.
To keep pace with the market's growth, 38% of all search firms are planning to add additional professional staff during the next three months – down 46% in May. In the previous three months, one in four (25%) executive recruiting firms increased headcount.
